During the Cold War the main geopolitical optic relied upon by policymakers and diplomats was associated with a bipolar structure of hard power. There were supposedly two superpowers with overwhelming military capabilities compared to all other sovereign states, and each controlled an alliance of subordinate states that staked their survival on global crisis management and territorial containment skills of either the United States or the Soviet Union.

Refusing to place the monument in
Manhattan, or on the scenic Jersey City waterfront (where Goldman Sachs is
Headquartered), US authorities instead dump Putin’s gift in a depressed and
unseen spot in Bayonne, NJ.  (around the corner from a
junkyard!) The media gives the beautiful memorial, dedicated by Putin
himself, a total silent treatment.

Associated Press= MOSCOW (AP) — Russia on Monday accused the West of effectively trying to use blackmail to secure a new U.N. Security Council resolution that would authorize the use of force in Syria.

Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s comments came ahead of a meeting with Kofi Annan, the United Nations and Arab League envoy for Syria whose plan for halting the fighting is weakening amid escalating violence.

The council is debating a new resolution on Syria, spurred by the July 20 expiration of the mandate for the U.N. observer force there and the failure of the Annan plan.

Oceans and seas cover 70% of the earth’s surface. In the decades and centuries to come, the seabeds of this vast area – more than two-thirds of our planet – will become an immense source of oil, natural gas, and rare and essential minerals. If we do not ratify LOST, America will be free in the future – as in the past – to use our advanced technology, our enterprising spirit, and our national vigor to develop the seabeds of these waters as we choose. But if we ratify LOST, many aspects of our exploration, development, and production of these resources will be controlled by the bureaucracy established by this treaty. And we will be required to pay LOST many billions, possibly trillions, of dollars in fees, royalties, and profit-sharing.

President Obama has usurped all available forms of communication for use and discretion of the US government. Under an Executive Order (June 6, 2012) entitled Assignment of National Security and Emergency Preparedness Communications Functions, Obama has enabled the executive branch to control communications  “under all circumstances to ensure national security, effectively manage emergencies, and improve national resilience.”

“The more warships the US moves [to the region], the more threatened Iran is going to feel and there is more chance of triggering some kind of mistake,” explains Patricia DeGennaro, professor of politics at New York University.

She says the act of sending more warships to the region is a dangerous game of “dare”.
